But are you sure? I really struggle with this. I know there are people online who read the things bots/trolls say without understanding their bot/troll-ness. Can we dissent and introduce, eg, anti-oppressive reasoning and move on without amplifying? Feels super tricky to me.

I largely agree...there are times it can be really hard to discern provocation/bots from self-righteous bigotry on the interwebs. There’s a segment of Tweeters who are simply unpopular (low follower accounts) and also spewing bigotry. The medium complicates the ethical calculus.
