Not sure if there's any empirical support for this number but there are absolutely phase transitions as your neighborhood graph grows.

Particularly if you could assign a weight to subgraphs. Imagine having a mathematical volume knob that lets you turn down "that cluster of accounts over there" wot happen to be tweeting about terrible things or harassing others or whatever.
