We are currently in an age of first principles. The very fundamentals are in dispute: truth, science, freedom, happiness, moral good. We grapple with the coming of intelligent machines and gigantic social networks. Everywhere, I see arguments to be made and systems to be built.

And the other part about exploring new terrain is you have to know where it is — that describes the motivations of most people in #phdlife that I know
