Maybe in your area, but certainly "extant" is a concise and useful word in evolutionary biology.

Having now seen how it's used in a few HCI/NLP papers, must admit this looks like an odd and quite unnecessary form of jargon! Also super confusing for those accustomed to its biological usage.
