Still learning myself, but I think what founders bring to a problem space is kinda similar to what authors bring to problem spaces when they write books: 1. commitment to addressing a problem 2. dedication to studying the problem space 3. highly developed knowledge work skills
I think if you feel confident that you are capable of writing a book, there is a good chance you can add value to a startup as a founder.
