I'm trying to reread the major texts this year (and the next). And they're harder to read the the densest sociological texts. Copy of translation of a copy of a translation makes for some dull reading.

Like, if someone made, New Testament: The Graphic Novel you'd probably get some more interested young people. (Well, and me, I guess, since I love graphic novels.) Free million dollar idea there, folks.

I recently found a journal of mine from high school where I was like "I should go to church more. I wish the sermons didn't put me to sleep". Not Christian now but feel the same way about Zen leaders (& many are excellent public speakers)

I think certain traditions do really value public speaking. I know someone raised in a very conservative Christian setting & being groomed to be a minister who was going to toastmasters by 15

Oh wow, I never thought about that grooming side. But yea, I listen to "Great Speeches" playlists a lot, and it's startling how many are ministers.
