Unpopular opinion: the only reason people hate them is because they don’t live up to the original. As standalone movies they’re not bad — really good cinematography & effects, and story & acting no worse than many other blockbusters.

Similarly to how many people don’t like Dark Knight or Rises because they are far more blockbuster-y & not as mind-blowing/developmental/progressive as Batman Begins. Considered as standalone they are great; considered as a series, they fall below expectations.

I was impressed at the time with how boldly the third movie drew a line in the sand to say "nope this series is definitely over," but didn't much care for either of them except as Woo-esque adventures with Cyberpunk Lite window-dressing.

But as far as creative ideas go, the only strong impression that sticks with me from Reloaded are these guys. Dreadful (heh) design, wonderful concept.pic.twitter.com/GEdkvsRgmo

Sing. Morpheus is such a great character. He should not be reduced to C-3PO.
