@generativist hey, idr how mathy you are but maybe check out Seven Sketches in Compositionality, if you haven't. I think "summarize" and "attend more closely to" might be maps that fit in the framework
I have no exposure to category theory and it's the second time this year that I feel like I'm missing something because of it...

7 Sketches may be worth a try. From the intro: "Each chapter in this book is motivated by a real-world topic, such as electrical circuits, control theory, cascade failures, information integration, and hybrid systems"... they use these to lead toward category theory concepts

i.e., motivation first, abstraction second. Unlike most treatments, which generally assume a solid understanding of several different abstract axiomatic systems and unify them through CT.
