1/ Lately, I've been thinking about my attention allocation and the associated probability of errors. That is, let's say I have a task I want to accomplish. How can I shape my environment to minimize the probability of making mistakes?https://twitter.com/generativist/status/1141892499985711104 …

Quantifying attention would be so interesting. How is it distributed across the population? Which domains lead to successful cross-pollination when multitasking between them? Can we fine-tune our learning by fine-tuning our attention? I bet yes, but only individually?

Can we model attention a fluid or a particle? Or is it more of a field? How do we allocate it? What does it mean to be paying attention to something, and how can it change so fast? What are the mechanics in play, and how deterministic are they?

I think a lot about 'open mode' thinking vs 'closed mode' thinking, and the item that really drove it home for me was the John Cleese talk on creativity. Binary might be easier to design for than dialing in an error rate. 'Sink' and 'source' tendencies, perhaps.
