I keep meaning to write a breakdown of that popular burnout article. A careful reading suggests that the goals of millenials (or really any modern striver) are mutually incompatible. Hence the frustration.

Not sure what you would say from the sociologically perspective but I think it's an issue of scarcity of prestige. People don't give you respect for the same about of success and effort as they did in the past. So everybody feels poorer.

Which won't help much because core things like college and house are way more expensive than Vidya games and Netflix. Fun is dirt cheap, basic stuff is too expensive

Makes sense that apples get devalued if everybody has a lot of apples. But along with college jobs, a lot of non-college jobs have been devalued. And that's interesting. Also now I'm thinking about the rise of jobs like influencer i.e. jobs that pay in prestige.

I’ll never forget an author on the subject telling me that sure, I could work real hard and maybe afford a Ferrari before I hit 40, but if I started saving now, I could easily afford 2 when I retired. Couldn’t comprehend why I’d prefer the former option.
