#STS Friends:
What's the best introduction to your field or the book you would recommend to someone uninitiated (or, perhaps if it exists, both)?

Though it isn't an intro to the field as a whole, I: (a) love it so much I quote it in almost every talk I give, and (b) think it captures the spirit of STS so well that it makes you want to learn more. So: "Pilgrim's Progress" in Beamtimes and Lifetimes by Sharon Traweek 1/2

I excerpted it from the book here - apologies for the fact that I accidentally highlighted the first couple pages: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4w3hweu6r1qmsnv/traweek_1988_pilgrims_progress.pdf?dl=0 … 2/2

Every day I get a little bit closer to, "Mara, let's create our own, open Good Reads..."

I would be super down!! I basically stopped doing GR when I started using twitter as a human (I'm convinced I have a fixed number of words on the internet). And my whole GR over alternatives (e.g. booklikes, which I also have) was that my friends were there / an audience existed!

I am book marking this for later...
