Can someone explains Sapiens popularity? I'm halfway through. It's fine but... ...I can't figure out the stratospheric reception.

Two persons on my plane reading Harari’s “Sapiens”, which is, of course, in all airports, etc. Any pointer to pieces explaining this success? Distribution? Is it particularly good? (And in which way?)

I think the fact that it really is in basically every airport and Hudson news is what set my expectations impossibly high.

Yes, I was genuinely interested in understanding the reasons of the enormous success. I am probably not the best audience for the book. An explanation I found interesting (and generalisable, even though perhaps a bit cynical):https://twitter.com/oleg_sobchuk/status/1122459598961762304 …

Seriously: this way they avoid the "curse of knowledge": it becomes much easier to put oneself into the readers' shoes & to be really excited about new things (which may be considered well-known & boring by the professional anthropologists or statisticians).

But, still, the best explanation probably is... luck. Now reading @barabasi's Formula: it only reinforces my belief in the enormous role of luck in success. Especially so – in the domains where success is hard to measure, such as the book market.
