4/ There are things I want to do. The idealist in me keeps trying to ignore...economic/ecological realities. But, the eyes-open me pushes for awareness.

5/ Lately, I've been a bit enamored with the way
@dhh &@jasonfried's partnership seems to work (from what I remember back when I did rails work.) Clearly they're both astute at building products. But the division of labor seems like a good one.2 replies 0 retweets 3 likesShow this thread -
6/ But, at this point, I don't have a strong relationship or work history with anyone on the product / business development side of things. And, very much like dating, I think it's a struggle to find a build a strong one.

7/ So, I'm a bit stuck, albeit while trying to push forward. Do I continue trying to learn more on my own? Do I need to pay a tuition in experience on it myself? Can I find a partner(s) without worrying about being exploited. All hard problems. And I don't have the solution.

I have done basically the same type of work for several years but for multiple industries. Publishing, advertising, retail , health insurance, banking. Product is a very loose term.

I don’t know if a magic partner will help you until you turn your idea into a noun of some sort. Then a development person might be helpful. I don’t know if there are people that help with the first part. I’d be wary of them.

Yea, that's my frustration. Without prior experience/trust, I just assume I'm getting bullshitted.

For at least product work, there's a very rich history and literature around design and usability that stretches from industrial design, to modern UX. Entrepreneurship is also a big biz-school topic, much isn't directly applicable to the everyday but helps analyzing things

That said, the only way to really learn about running a business is to try and fail at it a few times. Or be involved hyper early stage and participate in the "make decisions about every frickin' detail while being scrappy" phase
