(Very) Hot (and Uninformed) Take: Technologically-facilitated marketing has gotten extremely good at exploiting hyperbolic discounting, but eventually that misallocation will come due.

All technologically-facilitated processes that systematically, precisely, and effectively exploit neurocognitive systems contribute to sociocultural risks. Marketing -> attention Social Media -> sociocultural resilience Microtransactions & dopamine slot machines -> soft nihilism

Thanks! Stay tuned! (I'm trying to do it as openly as possible and want to apply to
@knightfdn or@echoinggreen -- places that won't tie me to a growth-at-any-cost anchor.)1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
Oh it's not hypothetical?
Can you point me to it? I'm really curious now!1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
In development still. But, I'll be releasing lots of in-progress thoughts at, http://thoughts.johnbnelson.com (currently a placeholder) and tweeting them here, too.

I like you and I wish you all the success with this! All these systems are innate in potential, and necessarily decentralised and distributed. The sad story of current tech movements is that it's ostensibly pursuing decentralisation, but still driven by forces centralisation.

That's the part I'm struggling with the most. Decentralization has such a killer bootstrapping barrier.

Bruh. You're the
@generativist. We should all become generativists. I think you might like this: http://heim.ifi.uio.no/~oleha/Publications/bok.9.html … My 2 cents: Parallel design of a generative base, and a decentralised infrastructure that anticipates the generated forces and cultivates it into ecosystems.1 reply 1 retweet 1 like -

The force must come from people, and the greatest challenge is to make it robust to volatility. Alignment by design is the key imperative.
