Buying books that suddenly fall down in your read queue still gives you very privileged read permissions in a temporal sense. Shelf latency is low. Plus, books are cool. I guess what I’m saying is my book buying habits are totally reasonable, and I see no reason to change them.

If you read a book a week, in 20 yrs you've read ~1,000 books. Good to be sure to have the right ones on hand.

This does NOT seem to help my ever persistent low grade perennial existential angst which seems to have invaded every aspect of my life. BRB while I go stare into my favorite abyss that is just the right shade of inky black desolate-chic that also accommodates ENDLESS SCREAMING.
