Semiotic ambiguity seems to be a vital precondition for all forms of crypsis or deception, of which trolling is a kind of semantic-moral variant. Like predation/evasion Trolls exploit latent ambiguity to dissimulate intentions & like con men use it to gain psychological leverage.
