Today I went for a 45 minute run.
I am out of shape AF.
I had to stop a few times.
But I was in the sun and it’s the first time since defense where #phdone felt real.

You got out there and did it. That's what matters. Future runs will be easier, so long as you keep with it.

Thanks! I can’t wait. Up until the last six months of my dissertation i was a 3 times a week sprinter. Then...down to no gym. Need to build back up to that. I think if I did sprinters yesterday something would snap. Everything is loose and tight at the same time now.

Getting back into it can be intimidating the first couple weeks, that's for sure. First there's the disappointment with not being able to what we could before, but then we get the familiar post-workout highs, which keeps us coming back for more.

Sometimes it's hard for me to get started, but I never regret doing so.

Yea definitely. The disappointment — and not injuring yourself to try getting quickly back (esp for lifting) -- are the hardest parts for me.

But we get it back faster than it took to earn it. At least that's what I tell myself....
