We didn't have a winter per se. But, I've run into several people at conferences now who say things like, "oh yea, I remember that was really popular at conferences a while ago, but not anymore." The embers continue to burn though!

I def agree the promise of ABMs is often bigger than what they can actually deliver yet. One of the conclusions of my thesis was that even in the easy no interference case, in order to get the “right” answer to a causal question from an ABM you basically have to already know it!

But now that that’s clear, there are paths to work forwards down which might help with clarifying what “already know” means, & when we can get away with only kinda almost knowing, etc.
