Also, better protections against harassment, assault, exploitation, and abuse from faculty supervisors, PIs, Deans, and other administrators would be nice, but we might as well start with demanding more money and for longer.

Ready access to and encouragement to use (instead of stigma) mental health services on campus. And not like they are currently provided on a limited, 6 session, get-you-in-get-you-out basis. We need early and continuous access.

Grad students mostly don't need your help. They need money. They need to be able to live and eat and move around and work like human beings who are doing some very important stuff (WHICH THEY ABSOLUTELY FUCKING ARE).

You want to help grad students? Give them more money. And not like a little more. A lot more. That's it. That's the only thing that will help. Everything else is complete fucking bullshit (and, in some cases, wage theft).

And I consider myself to be in easily the most fortunate class of phd students/candidates — ones whose skills are at least extremely marketable, optionality-wise. Everything seems pretty broken.
