"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain," should be the law of very online punditry. To use another cliche: given time, preferential attachment, and bounded cognition, they eventually get (unconsciously) high AF on their own supply.

(This is obviously a Ben Shapiro subtweet. I'm being extremely charitable in saying that he could have started out wanting to be a conservative intellectual, but the group he actually services belongs to a much, much darker set.)

I worry about people like Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh because they're my age. It's just so damn depressing. Sometimes I wish I could just talk to them 1-1 and convince them to stop. My wife teaches middle school and their ideas are taking hold among some of her students.
