I can't help but comment: it's telling that you immediately associate those people to Identity politics.
My contention is that consequences of the reaction are predictable and harmful, and that it requires finding a (possibly intractable) balance because the opposite prescription — don't talk about identity — has very effectively been used to demobilize people and obscure reality.

The balance is speaking truth to power. That doesn't require talking about identity because identity & power are not intrinsically linked. I live in Venezuela. We are a people kidnapped & crushed within our own borders. Our oppressors come in all shapes, genders, colors & sizes.
