I can't believe people are actually saying "black privilege" about this Smullett debacle. The same people who are enraged at the phrase "white privilege" no doubt. Good thread btw, I'm stuck on the absurdity at the moment though
I'm still not following here. Are you're saying that it's telling that "I immediately associate" "people who teach grievance and resentment" with "Identity politics"?

Yes. Those two things aren't necessarily related in theory, and yet there's a reason they are associated on your mind. You could say that it's because it's associated in the minds of the critics of identity politics, but then there's a reason for that as well.

They are very related in a thread I started about identity politics and the rhetoric surrounding identity, inspired by the online reaction to Jussie Smollett, to my group of followers who generally live in the US, many of whom are Americanist political scientists. Yes.
