2/ Like, I have no idea what the "correct level" of discussion is and I don't think anyone does. But, when you mentally set it to [any level], you're probably going to end up working against your desired outcomes.

3/ Being morally right guarantees nothing. "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice," is a laudable sentiment but, "in the long run we are all dead" is a much more useful heuristic.

4/ (And yes, just to be clear, fuck the people who are seriously using the phrase "black privilege." But, right now, I'm mostly thinking about how it continues to be a successful strategy instead of an absurd one.)

I've never heard of "black privilege", but I think "idpol" fails to denote one thing anymore. Some of it is civil rights. Some is partisan tribalism. Some is racial nationalism But Woke And Good Actually somehow.

There are basically no politics that are not at some level identity politics. "Identity politics" is an attack line because people with "default" identities (white, male, straight, whatev) are not seen as having identities. So reactionary politics, which are idpol, get a pass.
