Studying political science, sociology, or belief system dynamics requires that you live in a hall of goddamned mirrors that you can't really remove yourself from even though you methodological pretend otherwise. It's exhausting.

In the psychedelic/occult tradition I'm familiar with that state of cognitive dissonance is called 'Chapel Perilous' and you must either collapse the superposition into a reductive model you can hold, or you accept multi-model agnosticism as the only reasonable philosophy.
