Heh. If I ever do highlight in books, I use post-its, inserts with penciled in footnote marks or, at worst, I underline. I actually hate to deface books with highlighter. Still, if I do, I colour match both post-its and highlighters. :s

I'm British. I naturally support the underdog. Therefore, when I try to read a highlighted book I find myself reading the parts that were neglected instead.
