Asking for a friend (to get a wider perspective): 1. When you turned in your dissertation before your defense, did it feel "done"? Did it feel good, like a pile of crap, in between? 2. Did you and your PI agree on everything in it? 3. How did you deal with PI feedback re: #2

1. It felt done in the sense that I was v done with it & was ready to no longer work on it. But it was anticlimactic for sure. 2. No def not 3. I picked my battles & compromised in the sense of "this won't be in my diss, but we can talk about this when were submitting the paper"

I def hit (2) and (3) recently. Like, where it is now is my ideas sliced and and reprojected in ways I hate, and don't really match how I want to present them. But, I've just convinced myself, "do it like this now, then you can put it back together later."

Yup its a balance of "get the thing finished so you can move on". I would argue about things in my diss I felt strongly ab, but by the time you're at the end, the stuff you disagree ab you either just do your way (bc they might not notice) or their way (bc you wanna graduate)
