Asking for a friend (to get a wider perspective): 1. When you turned in your dissertation before your defense, did it feel "done"? Did it feel good, like a pile of crap, in between? 2. Did you and your PI agree on everything in it? 3. How did you deal with PI feedback re: #2

1. It felt done in the sense that I was v done with it & was ready to no longer work on it. But it was anticlimactic for sure. 2. No def not 3. I picked my battles & compromised in the sense of "this won't be in my diss, but we can talk about this when were submitting the paper"

I def hit (2) and (3) recently. Like, where it is now is my ideas sliced and and reprojected in ways I hate, and don't really match how I want to present them. But, I've just convinced myself, "do it like this now, then you can put it back together later."

Like, I've literally maintained a "official" git branch, which satisfies my needs and desires and "master" is what my chair and the library demands. Even if I don't merge them properly some day, it helped me just to feel like I could/would.

It's so hard not getting to say what you want to say how you want to say it! Everything ends up feeling like a production line,https://twitter.com/microjudgments/status/1091005222967640064 …
