2/ There are two general problems I want to work on, and I have to choose one. Working on Simon's "Designing [systems] for an Information Rich World" matches all my prior work really well, and it certainly feels like a worthwhile issue!

3/ But, doing research at or through facebook/twitter feels limiting. Now, to be clear, their research divisions do incredible work. I follow people on here in those positions who I greatly admire. But, I can't help but feel as if their energies are filtered by other interests.

Have you ever read Jim Collins? His books, like Good to Great? May not be as anecdotal as you like, but I feel his comparison studies show this.
