Since we're on the topic, the idea of "field A of studies" is different from "field B of other studies" makes sense. But I always have this feeling that we're missing something whenever we deliberate, and eventually assert segregation of knowledge into distinct domains.

I'm not quite sure what it is and I don't think I'm nearly qualified enough to even get close to knowing it, but if I had to guess what it might be, I'd say Philosophy is the place to start looking.

If anyone can point me towards resources and material that cover this line of thoughts, I'd be forever grateful.

I think some of the STS stuff may be useful. If I'm reading your point correctly, I generally agree. Different fields ask different questions and use different methodologies; but the overlap in underlying processes is big.

But, we get so focused on methods and the most interesting questions *to us* that we're sometimes talking right past each other.

Exactly. And that subtle overlap in the core structures of different fields is just, for a lack of a better word, frustrating sometimes. But when I think about it, the whole idea seems extremely impractical, to try and look for a sort of "Truth" that leads to perfect coherence...

...and transition from one field to the other, rendering all studies as one body of knowledge, or rather "The Knowledge". It's much more efficient to categories and segregate studies and assign questions based on where they arise from. Thanks for the suggestion btw...
