Me: "I miss my long hair. Male pattern baldness is bullshit." Fiancée, a clinical expert on androgenic alopecia: "I understand your frustration. But, your long hair was bullshit, too."

I still miss my hair, but substituting it with the beard has helped.pic.twitter.com/j0dYACe60q

Yeah, I started with my first gray at 16, but I thought I was ok as far as hair went. Then by 24 it was pretty apparent that I was going to be gray AND bald ... Used to shave my head, but chronic migraines made my scalp very sensitive

Oh yikes, I never thought about the migraine interaction...

Yeah, I didn't notice it until I moved to KY, where the constant changes in weather have meant extremely constant, but *mostly* low pain migraines. One of my symptoms is sensitivity to touch, which means a razor of any kind on my head is just awful.

Previously where I lived, my migraines weren't so constant, so I didn't really notice any issues with shaving. Went through two sets of new electric razor blades b/c I thought they went dull early and were making my scalp hurt.

And I'll be honest, the beard gets so long because I just can't be bothered to do anything with it. I trim the mustache when it gets too long, but only tend to touch the beard itself when I finally decide I need to cut my hair.

Yea, it's so hard to identify causes of pain, especially neural ones! (And, yes -- I frequently go "playoff beard.")
