2/4 Seven hundred people answered, and I was surprised by the results. I expected friends or family to be the largest percentage. I thought people might feel guilt over sacrifices their family made to provide them with career opportunities.

3/4 Alternatively, I thought friends might be the biggest category. One sometimes gets a reputation as the 'art girl' or the 'Dr friend' in your friend group and if one drops out, it would be painful to lose one's identity.

4/4 Adjusting for non-responses, 70% of poll responders said it was their colleagues and mentors that they would feel the worst about disappointing. That's interesting. I didn't expect that. What do you think?
