This is entirely my perception and I have no evidence to support it but it kinda feels like the mixture of constructs each programming language offers is converging and -- if that's true -- I don't think I like it.

I can't remember the source or exact quote but I one read something like, "yes C++ is big but if you think about how many simultaneous constraints it had to meet, it's an impressive engineering feat," and I can't stop laughing about that premise.
