1/ Culture is a giant Hopfield network with surprisingly low capacity. Identity socially conditions attention, such that different factions present different assignments to the network for reconstruction. Chaos ensues.

3/ Learning *does* occur. Cultural elements and their relationships do change. The probability of each reconstruction is not constant. But change is relatively slow. Most of the time, we're arguing over the emitted reconstructions.
