My only successful bluetooth pairing strategy is: 1. Turn off bluetooth for devices A, B, and C. 2. Turn on bluetooth for target device D. 3. Pair with device D. This can't be right, can it?

Heart rate monitor for watch, never paired with phone, but watch was paired with phone for syncing stats. Leave phone Bluetooth on, HR monitor stops syncing with watch. I think it’s broken for six months until I turn Bluetooth off once right before run and watch finds monitor.
