Personally, I find my notes too distracting. They may influence me instead of getting a fresh reading of the text. Sometimes they're just embarrassing. Instead, I copy passages & then make my comments on a couple separate sheets that I fold & keep in the front cover.
-
The practice of writing down the passages forces me to focus more and helps with memory retention. Then having all the notes with their page numbers neatly organized makes it much easier to locate passages later than trying to skim through the book.

same (tho the trophy problem went away when I whittled down my physical books to a handful and started buying e-books and carrying my library in the palm of my hand)https://twitter.com/ZoeJDolan/status/1084094440115888128 …

I just bought a reMarkable tablet and it's helping. I hate screen reading and it feels more like book reading to me. (We'll see if it lasts though.)
