I just started reading Irresistable (2017) today. Obviously, I don't know the literature that well yet but... ...the constant insistence that conflict resolution through SMS, iMessage, email, etc is Bad (TM) seems like a gross exaggeration at best.

"Texting is the worst possible training ground for anyone aspiring to a mature, loving, sensitive relationship." Is it? Really? Why?

my boyfriend and i often revert to conflict resolution via text because we find that we can "speak" our minds more slowly, more carefully, less reactively that way. sometimes when one of us is upset, we purposely go into a separate room and start texting to slow down the convo.

Yes. Like, it's a useful speed bump that let's you be less reactive. "You can't take back the stone after it's thrown," and all that. The full paragraph was worse and now I'm skeptical of this book.pic.twitter.com/lGm1fJ1J6h
