Question for people with back issues: I herniated L3/L4 2 yrs ago. Consequently, I can't really deadlift or squat anymore, and I never feel like I get a good workout without a lot of involvement. Anyone have any safe substitutes that leave you with that good exhaustion feeling?

Try yoga or running - running longer distances at a steady pace sorted out my back issues - I think because it forces your core to build muscles without overloading it

And yoga can replace your upper body workout without overload because you’re not lifting anything heavier than your own body (which in my case, is heavy enough already after Christmas;-)
