Question for people with back issues: I herniated L3/L4 2 yrs ago. Consequently, I can't really deadlift or squat anymore, and I never feel like I get a good workout without a lot of involvement. Anyone have any safe substitutes that leave you with that good exhaustion feeling?

I must admit I am biased, swimmer for 29 years now... anyway it is extremely good for all the body and very kind on knees and other joints
