Psychiatrist cannot and should not say Trump is a psychopath. Experientially- and ethically-derived best practices correctly prevent them from doing so for many excellent reasons. But the emperor has nuclear missiles and no clothes. Absence of a conscience matters.

One of the good reasons they should not do it. The better one is a broader consequence: the generalized and associated stigma leads to the conclusion that people with such disorders necessarily are bad, which is not true.

But he has repeatedly demonstrated no guiding principle save his ego and a delight in cruelty. People have been hoping that this team could act as a substitute for a conscience -- that team is gone. His mental state needs to be part of the experientially-validated threat model.
