college kids did it in the 90s & 00s to be cool, but takes waaaayyyy too much setup and none of the flavors are all that great.

I found LaTeX too complicated until I discovered I could compile Markdown to LaTeX and then make a beautiful PDF out of it. I wrote BSc and MSc in Sublime Text

I used pandoc as well. Its documentation says, IIRC, that it's a document format conversion tool. *That* is a massive understatement.

My entire dissertation is written in jupyter notebooks. Pandoc then stitches it together as a pdf.
