do you think he's exercising any particular skills or is it just that a random walk turns out to be surprisingly effective for maneuvering around those who assume you must have *some* strategy however poor?

Yea. Like Trump's skill is trolling in a way that brings groups into collision. It is very stochastic — and like Adam says, it’s not like he’s whipping out game theory trees— but I do think he navigates a space that hs strategic effects, if not strategy.

And, I think treating it as strategic — not brilliant or 80 degree chess, but just intending a result with experentially-validated moved — frames responses better. And, journalists — who largely reject that as a premise — seem to be the ones most easily exploited...
