"Documentation is a thankless task." You don't get much explicit praise for writing the docs. But, it's implicitly appreciated and highly-valued. It only seems subordinated because you constrain the set of projects to successful ones -- which almost universally have good docs.

Documentation is a natural by-product of good development habits. When developers take a small amount of time to write the reqs and design (public interface), write 1 page of unit test, comment logical steps to the code BEFORE coding, and then test against reqs, doc is easy.

And that applies across any Dev process, agile or otherwise. Good thinking hasn't changed over the last 70 years of Dev.
