Why are the biggest cheerleaders of white nationalism so into celebrating the virtues of individualism? And, why do people fall for this bumbling slight of hand?

American Individualism, in its near-Platonic form, is portrayed/emblazoned in the common mythos around rugged Cowboys, Frontiersmen, etc. All hark back to a time when white men cut civilization from the "wild" forests and non-white natives. Manifest Destiny, Frontier thesis, etc.

It’s a testament to the power of mythology that people focus on the shiny emblems of individualism, and not the call for a society composed of people exactly like themselves.

We're all a little narcissist. A society of people who all aspire to my ideals would *obviously* be awesome! Duh. Now, I'm going to need to get an occasional pass if I fail to live up to those ideals... but look, my heart's in it. It really is.

My daughter's kindergarten teacher actually put it best: "How can we find a way to disagree, but still be together?" Amazing how many adults (across ideological spectrum) would rather escape to fantasy land than deal with real world disagreement.

Is this still in the context of white nationalism using individualist motifs? Because i’ve lost the connection.

No, I'm just ranting about the ingenues with hard-ons for individualism. Have known too many Ayn Rand fanboys. It's easy to trigger me.
