1/ I don't know how to articulate this...but, I want to try. I was raised religious. I'm agnostic now. Sometimes when I have conversations with people who never had religion, their flippant attitudes and presumption of religious peoples' ignorance makes me defensive.

The literary theorist Paul Ricoeur has a related idea that he calls "second naivete"--first naivete is taking it all at face value; second naivete is re-enchantment after you're no longer able to. It's hard to find a good summary, but definitely worth checking around.

Sounds interesting. Being a fan of Gregory Bateson this reminds me of his learning theory in which reality is always framed. Even from a rather abstract perspective you can see miracles in the world.
