It’s pretty incredible that If there’s a bug in my apartment, I’ll catch it and put it outside but when it comes to dinner, I order steak.

I'm the exact opposite. Vegetarian for 6+ years, but a bug in my living space? Murder.

That is interesting. How do you feel during the bug murder? Vengenful, Sanitary, Calm...?

I tell myself it's for sanitary reasons, but it's at least a little bit because I just don't want them in my space, and don't want to bother catching them and releasing outside.

That's the post hoc rationalization. What emotions do you feel during the killing?

I do feel a bit of guilt, and also some curiosity, "what level, if any, of consciousness do you have little bug? ... well, none now."

I avoid killing them because it makes me feel like I'm destroying information needlessly. Although we shall never win, it's the fight against entropy that matters. Or something like that.
