Left speaker just popped even though I never listen to things loudly. That' just the final straw in a long line of straws. (This MBP is a full replacement of my last one which failed four times.) The only thing that kept me with apple was battery life. But others are good now.

Hah yea. I'll be going to Ubuntu (or possibly dual boot). Every time I use Window's at my parent's house, I'm annoyed.

Yes I highly recommend. Never had any hardware trouble (itself or Linux related) and the hardware package is pretty slick. And I like gnome desktop quite a lot (using it on Arch but as you likely know it's the default for Ubuntu now)

I really can't wait to use xmonad again. I miss it. I use amethyst on osx, but it's nowhere near as good.

I can't use a computer without one anymore. It's such a minor friction but once it's removed you can't go back.
