In my media queue, there are like five or six interviews with Trump supporters in the last week asking them about the Cohen news. If you're not going to stop with that shit, how about playing them this clip, and asking for a reaction. This shit is so patently evil.https://twitter.com/ACLU/status/1033084026893070338 …

She fled from one humanitarian disaster into another. She's crying because her child doesn't recognize her. The US policy of deterrence deters by terrorizing children in a way that induces long lasting harm.

Threaten to kidnap any parent's young child for even days and watch them prepare to do violence. You don't need to be a child psychologist to grok how fundamentally damaging and evil this is. And immoral. Being shrouded in law doesn't make it otherwise.

Empowering state agents to destroy children is monstrous is monstrously inhuman. Of course, this is morally wrong. Of course.

I am saying the processing of human beings in a fashion *designed* to inflict harm is self-evidently a violation of basic human rights, yes.

No, the policy is not new. But, the scale under Trump is -- a consequence of his "zero tolerance policy." The outcome -- something plainly immoral -- was intended. It was wrong under Obama. It's wrong now. This isn't anything that deserves debate.
