Claiming you reject the sociological argument of toxic masculinity as a form "biologically essentialis[m];" talking about Lions for some reason; claiming makeup / clothes "is inviting trouble;" and, ending with, "Everyone who understands game theory knows how this game ends"pic.twitter.com/SRl9qE2s3a

Also let's not forget - claiming that critics of toxic masculinity have directed the term at all men, and yet here I am going through my life feeling like no one has ever directed or applied it to me. Hm, now what should I trust? My own lived experience or some article?

Yea. The term could have applied to some aspects of my younger behavior. Had I been called out, I would have consulted my rationalizations -- conditioned by that toxic environment -- and ignored the accusation. Or, called it slander.

The perspective and distance needed to reject the rationalization-as-ego-grooming took time and painful effort. In retrospect – and, for me, a damn phd on belief systems – it's clear that the constellation of self-reinforcing, associated beliefs formed a perceptual gravity well.
