I wonder if this is just a feature of complex systems as a whole. The ability to encapsulate flaws and reroute pathways. I can make this case for biology and sociology also.

This looks interesting. My first time through grad school I studied anthropology of space and place. Memory heuristics in architecture. Lots of Christopher Alexander, etc. I wish I had this.
