I started rereading Paxton's Anatomy of Fascism last week. My god, it's such a different experience when the historical patterns overlaps so terrifyingly well with the present, lived-in context.

It also creates a weird distance. Like it offers a clarity that: feels very real; makes sociological sense; and, has a historical basis. Afterwards, looking through that clear lens makes it really hard not to hate *both* the process *and* all the participants.
